About me

Hi my name is Edward Leather, I am a CELTA qualified English language teacher from Great Britain.
The Cambridge English certificate in teaching English to speakers of foreign languages (CELTA) is considered to be the very best course for English language teachers to take. This is why I chose this qualification over other available courses.

I am an extremely calm person, with a great deal of patience. Nevertheless, I improved and honed this aspect of my personality working with adults with learning difficulties for many years in England. I have developed a great number of techniques and ways to communicate through this work and it has helped a great deal in developing my teaching methods.

The priority is on communication!

My language philosophy and approach is based on the idea that it is a tool for communication. If a person is able to communicate their thoughts and make them understood by another, I consider this to be good communication.

British English is considered to be the most easily understood form of the language. Therefore if students learn from a British native, their own English will be easily understood worldwide.

Smaller size, relaxed lessons

I believe that one of the most important Factors, in a students ability to learn, his class sizes. Small class sizes allow the teacher to pay more attention to each student and to target each lesson to the issues they may have. The pace of the course can be adjusted to the pace of the students learning. This means that the teacher can concentrate on those aspects that the students are finding difficult and there is less chance of an individual being held back by the pace of other students.

About course materials

I create my own teaching materials, as well as using well respected exercises from tried and tested coursebooks, such as published by the Oxford university press.

I believe that students learn better in a relaxed environment and try to match students with like minded individuals with a similar level of English.
